THis is just the precursor to single payer. pelosi was on TV today threatening insurance companies to not raise their rates or they wouldn't be able to participate in the exchanges.
You can't put all these extras on the companies and not expect them to raise their rates. They are forcing single payer through the backdoor so to speak.

Damn Pelosi..trying to protect the American people! SHAME!
AK, I feel your pain...We have to protect those for profit paper shufflers and money exchangers who provide ZERO healthcare services! Who ration healthcare by denying coverage and fighting doctors for their professional decisions on how to treat their patients...poor rich companies!
I understand your defense for the filthy rich insurance companies...poor insurance companies..NOT
The reform will 1. increase competition 2. introduce more paying customers ... DUH
Reform will fight corruption....& increase share of risk...which WILL drive rates down
AK, Who is your Health Insurer? And what type of insurance do you have? No pre-existing condition clause? Sounds to me that you are enjoying some type of Government health benefit. Am I wrong? right?
My best bud from college used to be a banker (now he plays Mr. Mom while wifey teaches at Harvard, hey, once your pile of $$ is big enough....enjoy it!). He worked in financial capitals around the world. Of course he still has connections in the financial world. Yesterday he called and mentioned how many E-mails he got advising him to buy stock in anything health care related. Hospitals, insurance companies, pharma. Wall St. sees this bill as a boon to these companies. Only the bull s*&t artists say different.

None of your business who my insurer is. No, it is not government insurance. It is a private insurance company like probably 99% of the people here. It is offered through my company. I had to reinsure with this company about 3 years ago after a brief stint with another company my company chose to go with. Five years or so ago, maybe longer, I had a cancerous polyp removed that was discovered through a routine colonoscopy(paid for by insurance). I had to put the episode on my current insurance and it was no problem. So, don't believe everything you hear about being denied for every little thing in your past.

Each state might be different, but in my stte this is not an issue for people in groups like you. The problem is for individuals.

I can't speak for them. Always had company provided insurance.

The best result will be that even the people who have denigrated this plan will be able to afford health care insurance for themselves and their children. It’s not perfect. And women are being forced to eat ajar of dirt but it’s a heck of a start.
