I posted the full story http://havanajournal.com/politics/entry/...ttle-claim here in the OFAC category of the Havana Journal Politics section.

American Express also paid $16k to settle claims.
Until a few year ago, air tickets to Cuba could be purchased from the US on travelocity.ca
Hence the fine then. The payment settled allegations of violations from January 1998 to April 2004.

America, land of the free (unless you want to go to Cuba or buy Cuban cigars)
ticket in 2000 on Yahoo Travel. I was shocked that such a thing was possible. When I tried again 6 months later, I recieved an email the next day asking me to call. I called and the rep I spoke with said that this was not permitted. I asked her why I could do it 6 months ago and she couldn't answer.

I saw that I could get air connections on canadian yahoo a long time ago, then it stopped.
but I would never ever purchase such a ticket from them online.
That screams and screamed - proof.

I have used Nash Travel or I would call Mexicana airlines in MEXICO (called them in DF and Cancun) and set up a ticket over the phone.
