My wife just booked her first trip back to Fidel's playhouse since the 3 yr rule went into effect.

First of all, she was planning to stay a month, having not seen her family for 3 years......and then found out that the max stay is ony 14 days unless you go thru the church. Otherwise the only way to stay a month is to forfiet your return ticket, and get a doctor's excuse as to why you overstayed the limit, including the purchasing of a new airline ticket. The key being the doctors excuse, otherwise you leave yourself open to a fine from several hundred to several thousand bucks.

So, for her and my oldest son, the round trip ticket was $1700 MIA-HOG with tagging on the church's "help". How ridiculous is that? Man, the next time they pass the offering plate at church, I'm just going to leave a note that I gave at the travel agency!!!! The tickets/permission doubled from the previous price of the tickets alone!!!

Who's cashing in on this deal? The Vatican, OFAC, or Fidel? Somebody has their hand way down in the cookie jar if you ask me. I guess this is just the next phase on how fucking ridiculous it is to travel to Cuba.....just when you thought it couldn't get any worse. I think most of us know that it can always get worse.......that's just history talking.

Stroke me.....cause I'm the one that has to fund this shit! Well screw whoever is responsible!!!!

I can see this easily being a $5000 trip after you add in the pocket money and all the misc. cost, like gifts, customs, ground trans, etc., etc., etc., ....oh and I forgot they'll need to eat too......better throw in another $2000....make it $7000.

Damn, at these prices, I'm sure glad she can't go more often!

I'm guess I'm beginning to see the light......it's probably less expensive to just send a fast boat to pickup the rest of the family. That way you can close the door on the whole "Cuban" side of the experience and move on with your life.

Bf That's kind of how I feel today......sorry!
It could get worse. There can be no trips. You can go to Europe for that price.
For that kind of money I hope they at least GREASE your arse hole!!! Who ever said sex with Cuban women is cheap has never paid the FULL bill.
Next time you will be looking for a Somali wife. Smile Smile Smile The Cuban ones are too damn expensive!!!!

Reaping the rewards from Hugo's spoils? Good for you.
Mercy,

I sold my two bedroom to a Venezuelan last year.  He called two weeks ago asking if I would sell the three bedroom for his daughter and her family. I asked for a stupid price thinking he wouldn't bother me again. That same night I got his email agreeing to my asking price. Even though the market is down right now, he wanted that particular unit so he can be close to the grandchildren.

I RAPED HIM hard.   Bf

I'll be there tomorrow night. Closing is Monday.

btw.....The bastard has CASHOLA. Toast

That Capital Gains is a killer though. But I figure if Uncle Sam takes 30% you at least have 70%. Good for you!
Surely Pepin has writeoffs to compensate for it. The depreciation on the ferries alone should take care of it.
Nah Sancho...can't do that. Fantasia Ferries is registered in the Bahamas.

You see...there are two numbers for this property. One on paper and one....... well.......you know.

Besides.........I love paying my taxes. God Bless America.

the beauty of cash.......Devil
If you love taxes, just wait until Hildebeast gets back into the White House.  You will think you died and went to heaven.  Bf
The Democrats raise taxes, don't do crap with it, then the Republicans have to come in and lower them again.

In the State of Florida, we are currently fighting for lowering real estate taxes. It is out of hand. Thank God I purchase my house before the boom. I am still in the old tax bracket. It is forcing people to stay put in their homes and not invest in other properties. Bad policy.

If real estate dies, so does the rest of the economy.

What do the Democrats do with all the taxes they collect?

Give it to the welfare parasites as usual.

Mercy, what you need in FL is what we have here in CA. In 1978 we passed Proposition 13 which put strict limits on property taxes. Seniors were getting taxed out of their homes and cities were free to raise taxes as much as they wanted. It was a bad situation.
Hey, it's pretty ridiculous here in TX as well.

I'm already thinking we'll buy $100k less house in TX than we have in PHX, but our net taxes(income and real estate) will at least triple.

In the Dallas metro are, you can have a property tax burden of $6-7k on a $150-200k home. That's criminal! Even though you get a lot for your money here relative to real estate, a $150-200k home is still a long way from a palace. A $500k home, from my perspective, is a pretty nice home here, but who wants to have an obligation of $15k a year in property taxes?
No kidding Sonney.

My son is currently in the process of buying his first home in El Paso Texas. I was shocked to see what he will pay for real estate taxes. Almost $4,000.00!

The home in only $157,000.00. But, I will tell you, that money bought him a pretty big house. 3 bedrooms/2 1/2 baths, a loft, a real back yard, and two stories. The seller gave him an incentive of $6,000 towards upgrades or closing costs, and $10,000.00 off the purchase price. The house is about 2100 sq ft. He's a good negotiator. Cheeky_smiley_013 Mom taught him well.

Those builders are trying everything in the book to get rid of their already half-way built new construction homes.

You can't buy a shack in Miami for that price.

The insurance at least is not a killer. He will only pay $550.00 per year where I pay $3,900.00.
