A friend of mine is into metal music in Cuba but doesn't frequent this forum, too bad. I know that person would have lots of comments on this music. There are alot of metal bands in Cuba and I am sure my friend knows alot of these people.
It just shows that there is an underground freedom going on in Cuba and kudos to the people that are playing this music, it is courageous of them to be upfront about it.

Yan,
It's not really about the music I wanted to hear.
Just listen to these people, the lyrics and the comments they make about Cuba.

I LOVED IT. The music and the comments. Thank God I speak Cuban.
I would probably have been a little metal girl in Cuba. I don't do that salsa stuff very well.

I just returned and saw an incease control over the people., probally due the uncertainty of fidel. More police presence, more fear.
2 weeks of walking the streets in Havana, not once was I approached with "my fren, my fren, where you frum".

The way these guys fight back is in their lyrics. The words say a lot about the underground rebellion. I'm sure the fear of backlash to them or to their family plays a big part in choosing not to take action and keeping the music underground.
I’m glad it had subtitles; it made it easier for my son to understand. He’s a musician and really enjoys seeing videos and hearing rock music from Cuba. And it continues to remind us all of the oppression of the Cuban people.

When the body is enslaved..the mind needs to be free
But when the mind is also enslaved...only then is all hope lost
As without both the body and the mind..the soul cannot survive
But when the mind is also enslaved...only then is all hope lost
As without both the body and the mind..the soul cannot survive

Cuba Rebelion is a documentary about Cuban underground rock musicians who rebel against the Castro-regime. I love to hear his songs. It shows the painful reality of musicians who are not allowed to express themselves publicly but are nevertheless willing to put their freedom at risk by playing their music. Cuba Rebeliom is directed by Dutch film makers and musicians Alessio Cuomo and Sander de Nooij. Cuba Rebelion is also a documentary about Cuban underground punk-rock and metal musicians who rebel against the Castro-regime.
