One of the reasons I visited Cuba was to see to what extent if any the Cuban-American community was doing any of this. My conclusion: For the most part, no they don't. Cuba is not a free country and would be an unpleasant place to live even if you were rich. Without freedom life is not pleasant.

I lived in Cuba and was relatively wealthy (for Cuba!) I met lots of people who like it fine. Girls, cigars, cheap rum, they forget they can't march down the street with a sign anytime they like. Actually they just don't give a shit.
