Fidel would love nothing more than to have the Embargo lifted. Why they keep calling it a Blockade is beyond my reasoning.
If there were a Blockade, nothing would be able to enter Cuba.
Where oh where is Canada when Cuba needs them the most!
The American Government did offer $5,000,000.00 in CASH to aid Cuba without having to send inspectors to the Island to inspect.
I don't think Fidel is going to get what he wants.

Two places that you can send donations. Canadian Red Cross sent $75,000 initially. There are other funding drives being organized by groups in Canada that I don't agree with their viewpoints, but they are trying to raise direct hurricane relief money nonetheless.
BTW Mercy,
My original post is a criticism of the Cuban government. The original posts talk about the $5 million that was rejected. Granma article is a plea from artists and intellectuals in Cuba and elesewhere complaining that the US should help Cuba more in this time of need. Perhaps the situation is so bizarre that people will misinterpret my point.
My response was not a criticism of you or your post, just my opinion of Fidel and his silliness.
If 5 million is not help, then I don't know what is. The old fart is getting senile.

Ok, gotcha.
I think it is more than Fidel and Raul. There are a lot of people in government that should be pushing to accept the aid. These artists and intellectuals complaining should grow some backbones and complain to their own government too. It's ok to take remittances all year that are worth $237 million annually and all of a sudden in perhaps the countries greatest period of need ever (am I right or is that exaggerating?) the $5 million in aid is all of a sudden 'charity'? Cubans themselves really have to start standing up for themselves too. They aren't doing enough.

That is 100% true.
On my numerous visits to Cuba, I am asked "When are the Americans going to do something about Fidel?".
Uhhh...why should America do something about Fidel? Cubans put him there, and Cubans should get him out.
That includes Cubans in the Island and out.
