Yes, I am still in Cuba. Though I travel to Miami regularly.
My ex-wife and son came back for their first visit at the beginning of the month. Her family were over-joyed to see them. (Officially she came on a humanitarian visit for the Church of Yoruba - go figure !)
Glad to hear that you're still happy in Havana, despite the changes in your personal situation.
Damn, talk about reversals of fortune......here I sit trying to figure out how I'm going to get rid of at least 6 of the Cubans living with us.
Be careful of what you ask for............

Sorry to hear about your predicament. I hope you're not financially responsible for them! Some people sign a promise to support others for 10 years.... if you did that, you may be in big trouble if they know all about it.
I only ask that my husband be given his residency so he can continue to work and we can continue to raise our daughter together. He's a wonderful guy. We are very much in love and very happily married and just want to contine our lives together in THIS country.

Well, I'm actually pretty fortunate due to the fact that they came on political asylum, and no support documentation from me was necessary, other than what I volunteered to do thru the refugee agencies. If had known then what I know now, I wouldn't have even done that. Seems that Social Security and other govt agencies will quickly reduce/eliminate any financial assistance they committed to if they think they can hang a family member with the expense. Once they see that the refugees have someone helping them, they start cutting the benefits, and then it is up to you to go fight with them to get anything reinstated. I guess they know that most of us are too busy working to put up much of a fight.
What about Miami? There is so much help there for runaway Cubans, right Mercy.
It seems if someone is picked up or turns themrselves in at Miami by the INS, they are out soon.
Anywhere else in the US it seems to take longer time.
From what I've seen here anyway.
Si Mercy?
