Just the trick for those who do not mind the heat of August but are looking for a good deal - with some advance notice for planning purposes.
SUNWING is offering the CLUB AMIGO MAREA DEL PORTILLO HOTEL ROOM on an ALL INCLUSIVE basis at Manzanillo de Cuba departing Toronto on 5 August for 7 nights. Even the flights operate at "normal" times (via Varadero).
This package includes flights, transfers and AI accommodation plus all taxes and fees for a TOTAL PRICE of $584.00 Canadian per person, double occupancy.
When I tried a trial booking, I was able to obtain same for a single person with no supplemental charge.

I think its called crazy wednesdays great departure time was 9.25am but it is a long flight esp returning from varadero done it a couple of weeks ago but I found the sun wing flight crews very inept at handling the flight they need some orginizational training they seem to think that they own the teritory at the front washroom "do" not pass the closed curtain; not good for weak kidneys
Good deal - Hope to be there at the end of Augest !!!
Cuba in August?

Not even if it were free.
Mercy please clarify yourself ;I have no problem with 35 degrees celc. if you have ever lived in a cold climate during your life you would think thats great :
I was in the Marea resort last summer and it was comfortable - In Port Alberni we hit 38 C and above in August ( 100 F )

I live in Miami and was raised in New Jersey. I prefer the cold. My hair doesn't frizz, and I can wear nice clothing too.
75 degrees f is fine by me. Don't know what that is in celcius.

Frodo:
I understand, but chances are that the few people seated at the front of the 'plane had paid quite a premium for that privilege.
They usually get chsmpagne prior to departure / upgraded meals , increased baggage allowance and yes! The front washroom all to themselves.
Airlines have different names for this priority service.
Next time - aim for the middle seats - just behind the wings. Those at the back can be noisy and busy!

For information the champagne is a thimble full on a 737-800 sunwing there is no first class seats only 192 cattle class seats ;;those that are preselected are at a cost of 30.00 return; as far as the checked luggage its the usual 20kilos only per passenger and sun wing is very religous about it ;maybe they will give you a pound over but otherwise 10.00 a kilo if over too much
True enough! The size & type of aircraft determines whether or not upgraded seating is available - at a price, of course! "First Class" isn't usually the term used on charter flights. More likely, "Club Class" or even "Comfort Class."
I hope the place has undergone an extensive remodel!
Last time I saw the place it looked pretty much on par with the typical Cuban ratoneras.....except for the people staying there.
We spent a few days at the Farrallon del Caribe next door which was nothing to write home about, but far better than Marea del Portillo.
Man, am I gald the family is finally out of there and that I don't even have to think about returning. For all the effort that it will take to get them into a mainstream existance in the USA, I'd do it 50 times over in lieu of having to go back to Fantasy Island. Screw Fidel and the phucking donkey he rode in on!
Most resorts in cuba you get just what you pay for thats the way its allways been so dont expect too much esp in food and accomadations ; but you would be hard pressed to convince the hundreds of thousands of tourists that go there every year europeans and canadians mostly and a lot of them come back every year to have another go at it I have done it for twenty eight years no regrets "but" I know what to expect every time cheers::

I was at this resort twice last year - a lot of changes since Sunwing took control !!! Better food at the Marea than the Blau Coste Verde !!!
